Oh, goodness, its so big!
SANTOS, CSG AND THE LIVERPOOL PLAINS: MEET THE SENATOR FROM SANTOS, THE SECRET TROJAN HORSE HIDDEN IN PRIME MINISTER TURNBULLS OFFICE
Meet Senator James McGrath. Occasionally, when he is not busy advising important people on how to run the nation, he likes to play The Senator from Queensland. You see, McGrath was the man who was given a nice warm Senate seat as his reward for being the LNP Campaign Director who helped make Campbell Newman the Premier of Queensland.
McGrath was given the gig as campaign director after he had worked on Boris Johnson’s campaign to become the Mayor of London. After McGrath was elected to the Senate in September 2013, he went off and worked for Santos until he was admitted to the Senate in July 2014. This fact is certainly no secret, and McGrath saw no conflict of interest with his actions.
Santos, of course, is the company that intends to mine the Liverpool Plains and most of the prime agricultural land of NSW. McGrath never saw any problem with working for Santos while he was a Senator-elect: he claimed, in fact, that he was “just making contacts”
At The Palmer Enquiry into the Newman Government held in Brisbane in November, 2014, it was McGrath – by then a Senator – who was busy not so much working as a Senator representing the Queensland people but rather, as the hands-on tactical instructor of the entire team of LNP Senators attending the Inquiry. During the tea breaks McGrath – small in stature with upturned nose – turned into something of a fighting Pomeranian as he would take the other Senators aside – namely Senator Matthew Canavan, Senator Barry O’Sullivan and Senator Ian MacDonald – and slap them around with tactics in order to disrupt the Inquiry as much as possible when they went back inside.
The behaviour of the LNP Senators while CSG Activists like Drew Hutton were attempting to give evidence had to be seen to be believed – shouting, yelling, slamming books and water glasses – all to intimidate and stifle the evidence in front of the media so that they could then describe the Inquiry as being “a shambles”.
Once McGrath moved to Canberra, he very quickly established himself as an indispensable man inside the Inner Circle of Malcom Turnbull himself. In fact, when it came to planning the coup to overthrow Prime Minister Abbott, it was McGrath who stepped up as Turnbull’s secret numbers man, and it was McGrath who was busy counting heads in secret meetings in certain Queanbeyan houses late at night. Canberra insiders are now reporting that it is McGraths sticky fingers that are being stamped all over the Turnbull Election Campaign.
They claim that the “How Much I Love My Daddy” video released by Turnbull on Sunday 5 June - is classic McGrath campaign stuff. So McGrath, it seems, and his so called “magic fingers” is what PM Turnbull is now relying on to get himself re-elected. So its probably just a little curious, therefore, that the news has leaked out the very next day after the Turnbull video was released – on 6 June - that Santos is planning to test drill large sections of some of the best country on the Liverpool Plains?
The Wilderness Society has obtained a document under freedom of information relating to an application from Santos for an extension of Petroleum Exploration Licence 1 (PEL), which covers a large area of the Liverpool Plains. According to the ABC, Santos general manager of energy for New South Wales, Peter Mitchley, said in a statement the company had "no plans to work outside the Narrabri Gas Project area at this time". "Santos's Narrabri Gas Project is a strategic energy project under the NSW Gas Plan, meaning the company is focused on developing much-needed gas in the Pilliga, and that all other work obligations in surrounding licences (including in PEL 1) are in abeyance.
"Any future work, should it be planned, would be subject to landowner consent, community consultation, and rigorous regulatory assessment." Local farmer and Activist David Quince said he did not buy it. "The Narrabri Gas Project is a Trojan horse for Santos's real intentions, which is to coal seam gas mine the Liverpool Plains," he said.
The CSG industry has planned their destruction of Australia’s prime farmland, its water resources and its rural communities with chilling, almost CIA style precision, so the term “Trojan horse” would seem to be entirely accurate in every sense.
What is even more disturbing is the reality that Santos now has very own Trojan Horse in the shape of the bespectacled Senator from Santos who is not merely advising the Prime Minister - but also directing his knife-edged campaign to get re-elected.
We are living in terrifying times indeed. (our sincere thanks to the resources of Sir Edward C and his entire team. You are true patriots that this nation can be proud of)
